Years of Corporate Job Before Lisa Finds Seven Figures as Copywriter

Starting a career is full of hopes and aspirations apart from the reward that comes with it.  Certain aspects of her life have been sacrificed many times, such as time with family, with friends and relatives and so on. At these times she always believes that there must be a way out “I’m a good little girl who took the corporate job and worked my way up the corporate ladder because that’s what I always was told to do,” says Lisa Christoffel 

At a point in her career, she wanted more than what the corporate plan has to offer and each time this conflict crossed her mind she said to herself that it was time not only to think but also to take action. 

 

She said, “I missed my kids’ birthdays, concerts, baseball games, anniversaries and everything”.  

The Moves that Led to Success in Copywriting

Lisa is risk-adverse person. So, she wanted to have a sense of control over how she went about changing her work and embracing the business that guarantees freedom and better quality of life.  

She started doing other things aside from her corporate job at Kodak. invested in some financial products and worked at building a coffee business. She also came across copywriting. That was when she decided to take a shot at it. She found out that copywriting could replace her corporate job even with little or no skill or experience.

Institute (AWAI) Call-To-Action that said, hey! can you write letter like this?”

 

“I had never heard of copywriting before, I had no experience in it. But I was like, I can write. And I think this sounds like great opportunity. I’m going to try it,” she said. That is how she started copywriting journey.

 

She started investing in AWAI courses, including How to make Money as a Social Media Marketing Expert, AWAI Bootcamps, How to Write Your Own Money-Making Websites and many more. 

 

Lisa explained, “…the enthusiasm of Katie, Rebecca and the aspirations that you get as you listen to them about the opportunities in copywriting as they take you through the courses and everything. I think what finally got me through the Accelerated course was hearing about the incredible opportunity on top of how to master the skills.”  

 

She believed in herself and also in words of encouragement and in opportunities in the copywriting business. She got her first paid copywriting job through Upwork. The money made was 10x lower compared to what she should have charged. But she gained confidence and added more experience and copywriting samples to her portfolio. 

 

Lisa continued to talk to her network. She also updated her LinkedIn profile and websites. “I have found all my clients through personal networking and connections, just being where the clients are. I put my value and my time on my network and then my clients come to me,”-Lisa said.

Life of Fulfilment and Breakthrough

She received a call from Pam Foster, the AWAI Director of Training. Pam asked, “would you like to be the B2B Writing Success Managing Editor? You have gotten the skills you need to get the work done and we think that you would help our members advance their careers.”  

Before this offer, AWAI happened to be Lisa’s major client. Now he has many copywriting jobs to choose from and more time with family.

One of those reasons she concluded, was that she remembered “I write every day, I write business emails, make presentation and a lot of persuading because as Global Contact Center and even as IT system services company, the expenses for the company, so in order to keep getting funded, persuasive presentation & communication were important”. Starting up her copywriting courses, Lisa had to unlearn and relearn everything she knows as her writing skills.

 

She started her copywriting course with AWAI Six Figure CopywritingAWAI Seven Figure Copywriting. She was still working full time in her corporate job and this course took her some time before she gets through with it, she emphasized that Katie and Rebecca offered the companion series of the programs and it was very helpful and assisted her to finish the program.

 

She went ahead to enroll and participate in many more AWAI Copywriting live events and other courses like B2B Copywriting Mastery,

More Fun, More Time and More Caps

Lisa and her husband travelled to Greece and France in June 2022, a delayed celebration for her 30th wedding anniversary. They had missed it two years before.

 

She said, “I’ve been to Florida twice this year already, for a combo of events and vacation. I also just got back from Kentucky.”  

 

Lisa Christoffell loved her role and performed well until the last day of her 25years there. Her next move, to get into copywriting, has paid off. She now has freedom, more time with family and better quality of life.

“Working a whole lot fewer hours not having to travel unless I want to. And being able to go wherever I decide to go,” she said. This allowed her now, to follow her “To do list” conveniently and with style void pressures from any boss on meeting deadline. 

 

These are the kind of perks and lifestyle that a copywriting business guarantees and Lisa is actually living the life!

 

She recently started a coaching business to assist female entrepreneurs inbuilding their businesses. She wanted more women to be more engaged, free and successful in their chosen business endeavours.
